While they do have interesting information, they are kind of obnoxious, IMHO. My kids did not like them, but perhaps they are too young. Some of them used to be available to watch on TBN’s website. You might try looking there if you want to check them out before purchasing.

My boys, ages 12, 12, 8 and 6 really enjoy them. We have the American history ones. We’ll (most likely) be buying the Ancient history ones soon.

We love them! We don’t have the videos, but we catch it on a television channel on Saturday mornings here. The host is obnoxious, which is why I think it’s a big hit in my house!

Thanks for the input. I may try my library before purchasing. From the way the DVD cover looks, the guy does look like he’d act immature. But maybe that can be overlooked as long as my kids truly learn some interesting things.

We love them. For the most part, the host is serious in giving out the information on the historic site he is visiting, but he keeps it entertaining by throwing in a corny joke here and there, mostly at the end of his serious talk. We have them all except the new Holy Land ones and I plan to buy those whenever I can afford them. Also I have found used sets on Ebay for a good price, so you might check there. HSLDA has given sets free with membership. Otherwise, I think libraryanded.com has the best price new.

We love them. My kids think he’s funny. I do think that the Holy Land videos are on TBN.

My kids really enjoy them, and often choose them over things that are not really educational at all…but they also choose Story of the World cd’s, so maybe they are just strange. Or I have successfully endoctrinated them to love history :).
They move really fast, so it helps if the kids are in the 8-12 year old range, IMO. We do get several viewings out them before they ‘get’ everything that the host is saying.
I would say that if your kids like them, they are good for reinforcement. Maybe you could check them out or watch a sample first to see if they understand and get the humor?

Thanks for that link Sarah. I have never heard of TBN. One question, if something is on there will it always be there or do they rotate videos?

We’re Drive Thru History fans here! We have a house full of boys who find Dave Stotts childlike silliness quite humorous. However, his love and knowledge of history shine brighter ;).

This forum is the best! My family is always telling me how impressed they are with what my kids use and learn in school, and almost always those ideas came from here! Thanks for always sharing! =) I feel like this is another one of those times when I found something neat and interesting!
My dh and I watched an episode of the Holy Land from the link that Sarah gave and now he thinks we should get them all to add in as fun supplements for our school! I didn’t think that Dave was all that bad in that episode. It wes interesting and we sure saw a lot of things that I haven’t ever seen on the videos we have watched as I try to let my girls “see” the places we are reading and studying about. I am excited to add these to our studies.
