We’ve been really happy with the Atelier art dvd series. We did level 1 last year and working through level 2 this year. Each level has 18 art lessons and we do one every other week or so during the school year. I appreciate that there is little mom effort other than gathering the basic supplies and turning it on. Supplies are not expensive and really are basic supplies most of us probably already have. I also like that they are not very expensive and fairly easy to buy used copies at a discount. They were recorded a while ago so you might see some shoulder pads. 🙂 I’ve been tempted by the Creating a Masterpiece series but they are just so expensive. For now, Atelier has been wonderful and is very affordable.
Creating a Masterpiece us excellent of your kids are interested in some of the projects… And there are a lot to pick from now, so they probably will be. It is expensive, but we went together with some friends and shared six DVDs. We just mix them up now and then and keep half at each house. We are ready for more projects for more kids now. I see that they have subscriptions now and you get access to all projects while subscribed. Way too expensive for us to do long term, but we are going to have a special art month sometime this year, and do as many as we can while we let up on something else to make time for it.
Once nice thing with the Creating a Masterpiece streaming video option is that you can pay monthly and come and go as you please. So you can subscribe for just one month and have access to all of the projects during that time. It’s a pretty good value that way, especially if you have multiple children wanting to do multiple projects. You can cancel the service and then subscribe for some other month later when you have need of it.
