We’ve tried a few, but the one that has stuck with us is a very small, very dry little book titled Drawing Textbook by Bruce McIntyre. I like it because we all do the lessons together and can do one in 15 minutes if that’s all the time I have (and you know that it often is!). I got mine from Timberdoodle a few years ago. I do not know if they currently sell it, but they were pretty hot on it when they did.
We’re have a grand Christmas season! Lots of caroling, baking, shopping, giggles when the salesperson says, “Happy Holidays!” and we reply, “MERRY CHRISTMAS!” 🙂 – oops! UPS man is here now!
I learned to draw using the “Drawing from the Right Side of your Brain” book. I might not have the title correct, but you should be able to find it. It’s a fantastic book for kids and adults. I think ages 8+ would be about right for the book. Younger kids don’t need it, and it probably wouldn’t appeal to them anyway.
Thanks for the Drawing suggestions! I saw that the “Drawing Textbook” is still available at Timberdoodle and “Drawing from the Right side of your brain” is at our local library. You are all so helpful! 🙂
