Mandi, we are using Notgrass Draw to Learn Psalms this year. I have a blog post about it from the beginning of the school year here…. http://reflectionsfromdrywoodcreek.blogspot.com/search/label/Bible%20Study
We are now nearly finished, with only four Psalms to go. It’s still one of my kid’s favorite subjects. I have mixed feelings. I love the idea behind it. I love reading the Psalms, but sometimes I feel the kids are so anxious to draw that they are not really hearing the Psalm.
The younger kids, elementary age, have their own Notgrass Psalm book. Our older dd, 12th grade, and I just use a blank sketch book to make our drawings. You can see how this looks in the photos in the blog post above.
As far as being an “art” curriculum, Draw to Learn… gives you no instruction on how to draw or the elements of drawing. It just tells you what to draw. As far as a “Bible” curriculum, the excitement of drawing is sometimes a distraction from the Bible reading. On the other hand, our kids LOVE it and want to complete other books in the series. They love to look back at their drawings. And I must confess, I love to look back through my sketch book 🙂
HTH,
Melissa
