Yes, I would like to ask the same question.  Do you mind to share your plan or weekly plan or even daily plan?  Just wondering what kind of planner you use?  Any suggestion?  Thank you.

btw – lifeprint is the ASLU that I mentioned, that I think may be too old for my kids still.

Well, remember you asked for it! LOL!

I use the SCM Planning Your CM Education method, but I like using good old notebook paper and a pencil then I just type it out in a Word document. This is my yearly plan.

    2012-2013 Overview

    Family:

Bible – daily, continue Bible reading plan and Scripture Memory Box

Memorization – 1 poem per six weeks chosen from our reading

Singing – daily, hymns, folksongs, patriotic, and Spanish songs on rotation. I usually choose these at the beginning of each 6 week period so we can be flexible.

Composer Study – Debussy, Bach, Chopin, one per term, I save 12 pieces per composer on a Youtube playlist and use my iphone on a dock to play them.

Artist Study – Renoir, Audubon, Larsson, one per term, already ordered calendars (thanks for the advice!)

Nature Study – Outdoor Hour Challenges once per week, plus our many ongoing projects such as our birdfeeders and butterfly garden.

Poetry – daily, one poem per day, Favorite Poems Old and New, Poet study on Christina Rossetti one 6 week half-term

Character/Personal Development – continue Millers books, I chapter a week

Spanish – continue Salsa Spanish with lesson plans or *maybe* buy The Easy Spanish – undecided, daily

History – Module 5 time period, books as follows:

World History: A Child’s History of the World ch 68-79 (4 chapters per term)

Church History: Trial and Triumph ch 27-32 (2 chapters per term)

We will read half a chapter a week from one of these. I like to break them up.

American History: American History Series by Pratt Vol. 1-3

    Read 3 chapters a week

Family Read Aloud read daily after lunch, I just finish one and pick another

Geography – Paddle to the Sea 1x week

Science: Explore His Earth, Burgess Animal and Bird Book with notebook page narrations 1xweek

History: Module 5 list – (I have it broken down into what books to do for each term and in what order on paper) 2x week

    First Grade, dd6 individual work:

    Copywork – daily

Math – Math Mammoth (again, she is already doing level 1 we just keep going) and Life of Fred

    Begin piano lessons

Free read – 1 chapter a day of assigned books, no narration

Literature (narrated) – Aesops Fables (2 a week), Just So Stories, A Wonder Clock 2x a week

Thanks for sharing this Tara. I love the simplicity of your plan. I tend to want to overplan things and stuff more into our schedule than can really fit there. Thanks for the reminder that less is more. =)

Our weekly/daily schedule. We just do the next thing, no times listed. I have the schedule made out with all 5 days on one sheet, a column for each day to mark each activity as we go. That way if we skip something I can fit it in later because it isn’t marked off so I remember we didn’t do it lol.

    Family Time

    Scripture Memory Box

    Bible

    Memory Poem

Hymn Mon, Folk Tu, Patriotic Wed, Spanish Th, Fun Fri

Character Mon, Composer Tu, Artist Wed, Poetry Th

    Spanish

    Table Time

    dd6

    • Math Mammoth Mon/Wed, Life of Fred Tu/Th

    • Copywork

    ds8

    • Math Mammoth Mon/Wed, Life of Fred Tu/Th

    • Copywork

    • Piano Lesson Mon, EFTTC Tu/Th, Oral Reading Wed

    dd4

    • Beginning Reading or Number Work (she insists)

    Reading Time

    Poem

    Family History Read Aloud

Independent Reading Time with narrations/ Mom reads to dd4

    Notebooking Page if desired

    After Lunch

    Family Literature Read Aloud

dd4 naps, free reading then quiet time for the other two

Masterly Inactivity which usually involves handicrafts, nature study, and play undirected by mom

Also, Wednesdays are errands in the afternoon and Thursdays are “clean your room” days.

Nature Study is done “officially” after lunch on Fridays instead of reading aloud. Or sometimes we do both 😉

oh, I forgot to put the word “Singing” before Hymn lol, but I’m sure you get it. Also, I forgot (haha!) that I actually decided we are not doing “Table Time” on Friday, we will do nature study instead and then afternoon as usual.

C’est fini! I am done and it has taken a lot LESS time this year. I think what has helped is knowing what can realistically done everyday and simplifying the daily schedule.

I still need to organize my teacher binder. I hope to make it decorative this year just for fun! 🙂

Tara, thanks for sharing! Helps me to see we are doing OK too! Love your idea of a very simple checklist.

Simple Home, decorative how? Are you using something you found on-line or just sprucing up your notebook? I’m curious! I need a little spice to my binder as well.

Yes thank you Tara for sharing! This has been an encouraging thread, I need to get my planning done and since I’ve been working on it in little chunks it feels like it’s taking forever, I sometimes feel like hit a wall with big projects and just want to quit, especially when it seems there is no end in sight. But there is – thanks for the reminder! (And I think I’ll decorate my binder too when I’m done, that will be a nice reward for finishing. I’ve been wanting to put a CM quote on the front anyway.)

@LDIMom – I found these to spruce up my notebooks.  They make me want to use them. lol

http://momstoolbelt.com/seasonal-cover-pages-spines  She even has homeschool things.  This is the same lady who makes the notebooking pages for notebookingpages.com.  It was actually through her site that I found CM.

I also found this and really like the looks of it: http://cedartreepress.blogspot.com/

by looking at everyone’s plans I feel like I have too much stuff, *sigh*.

If I am doing the Module one Genesis through Deuteronomy and have supporting read aloud books on ancient egypt, how many should I have? I think I have too many to read.

LDImom, I think my link below is the same as above. I signed up on the sale day (through Tristan) for notebooking pages to use with history narrations and I felt excited to see that they also offered mom planner decorative pages from their sister site.

But really, you could do your own. It would be fun to place a Charlotte quote and have pics of whatever inspires you. Dividers with labels in pretty font is also nice. My current folder is just well, blah. I can’t wait to spice it up. 🙂

    Sahmamma,

I did Module 1 two years ago and went strictly by the SCM schedule for read alouds. It was not too much for my family. If you add in an extra book or two for read aloud, it probably won’t be that big of a deal. You can always cut down if you feel like it’s too much. It really depends on your children and how much time you have for history. Since I have 4 different ages, my time is split and I need to choose just one or two good readings that work for the entire family, while allowing my olders to read independently any other chosen books if possible.
