mjemom – what area of ttown are you from.  All of my extended family lives there and I grew up in Fayette,Al so we spent our weekends in t-town.  Just wondering….  Glad all of your family is accounted for.

Hi Lesley, so sorry to hear that your home area and family and friends are in the middle of this awful disaster.  My prayers go out to them all and to you because it is such an awful thing, that no-one should ever have to experience.  I think that when you are in your own home or apartment, you should be so secure, snug, warm and safe, and have the thought that nothing can touch you in your haven – wherever we call home is our safety zone, our place just to be – so when it is taken so violently and suddenly as in a hurricane or tornado, you feel like your roots have been pulled out and all that safe warm feeling is suddenly gone.  There is no feeling like it, and I hope and pray I never experience it again or that anyone has too – but sadly here the weather can do terrible things.  After the hurricane I was able to let the stuff go and say well at least we are all alive and and safe, and not to worry about the things – but to be honest in your heart you do miss those really special things, like photos, or family heirlooms and things – it does hurt – the special photo of a loved one, the book that someone special had inscribed etc – so the pain goes very deep and the indignity of having no home, having to rely on others is hard for many people.  I do hope that you do not hear any bad news or more bad news – do take care and know we are praying and donating here.  Hugs and blessings, Linda  P.S. Hope those beautiful twins of yours are doing well.

Linda – you are always such an encourager – thank you for your sweet words. The little boys are doing great, I can’t believe they will be 4 in a few weeks!!! I need to check in with you on your girls as well, it has been a while. Amy – I will PM you as not to bore others with geography 🙂

Thank you all so much for your prayers for this part of the country – folks are still in great need over there. One of my best friends is answering the disaster relief hotline and she says it is so sad and overwhelming. It is encouraging though, to see how everyone is coming together to help each other – I am watching my friends on FB post needs and folks immediately filling them – God is being glorified through this horrible event. Anyways, I know several sites have been mentioned for offering help – and all of those are great. I did want to post another place to look for ways to help. It is the FB page of these guys that have a radio show in Bham (I think it is syndicated elsewhere now too) – you have to do a bit of scrolling but they have posted lots of places to donate/help that are a bit more immediate. They are from one of the communities that was hardest hit – I know their names make you laugh, but they are great guys Rick and Bubba

I know some else posted this same thing so I have copied and pasted their response. I HIGHLY recommend supporting through this site. One of the families involoved lost their father in the tornados. He was a father of 13 children.

Yes, they are Christian Homeschoolers.  For more information including how to best donate and interviews with the families themselves visit http://www.bradrick.org/helpalfamilies/
