Can anyone share with me the difference between science and nature study? I’m guessing there is overlap, but I’m trying to get a handle on what is considered science…I think I have a good idea about nature study, but will welcome ideas here, too.

Charlotte approached the study of science in a balanced way, using both spontaneous observation and discovery as well as systematic study. The spontaneous part is done through nature study. The systematic part is done through reading and narrating living science books.
Nature study lays the groundwork for the systematic part, because it’s easier to read about something you have already seen for yourself. And it’s enjoyable at all ages, so it is continued through all the grades.

Those are part of the systematic studies. Of course, you can examine parts of a flower or something that you find in nature study too. But most of the experiments will be pre-planned as part of the “book learning” times.
