Or just the ones w/ Peter, Edmund, Lucy and Susan? We skipped Magician’s Nephew.

    Thanks

We read all of them. Is there a reason why you skip? My kids start with Magicians Nephew (yes, written last, but I think Lewis intended for it to be read first and that’s a fun connection to LW&W) and just go on through.

We read them all. Multiple times. They are favorites at our house.

I skipped due to some of the Amazon reviews! And because it was written last! Would it be okay to go back? We are almost finished w/ LW&W and they are loving it!

    Thx

I would totally go back and read MN! For sure! I don’t want to give you spoilers if you don’t know it, but my kids all enjoyed it (and all of the books, although everyone still has their favorites in the series).

Read all of them. Loved all of them. The Horse and His Boy was probably my least favorite, but the kids loved all of them. We had a very special family moment on the last chapter of The Last Battle I was crying as I tried to get through the last page! Both kids have re-read these books multiple times. They are probably my favorite series of all time.

That is so sweet, Lindsey. Two of my kids’ favorite is Horse & His Boy…but each book is loved!

I’ve been debating this same thing.  I’m thinking of skipping MN and Horse & His Boy and letting them read them on their own if they wish.  However, we picked them up on CD, so now I don’t have to actually read them aloud.  Embarassed  My voice easily tires and I’ll need something for them to do when I’m feeding our newborn.

I’ve gotten them all from Audible and we love listening. I get tired of reading aloud, but we don’t get tired of listening. 😉 We are finishing up the series this month, and my kiddos keep going back for more.

I think that they are all worth reading!

We are just finishing L, W & W and was going to go on to Prince Caspian but maybe I will go to MN instead. What is the “proper” reading order? I know its different from the published order.

I am currently rereading them for my own pleasure, and prepping to read them next year.  I think Magician’s Nephew is important, but I would read it AFTER L, W & W.  (Which is how it USED to be numbered, years ago.)  Yes, it’s technically a prequel to L, W & W, but there are some spoilers in it, if you read it first, IMO.

My kids have listened to all of the books from Focus of the Family Radio Theater..they love them all…and I just started reading the Magicians Nephew to my son at his request.  🙂

Lots of great characters in Magician’s Nephew!  The Horse and His Boy is my personal favorite.  Here is the order:

    1. Magician’s Nephew (How Narnia began)

    2.  The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

    3.  The Horse and His Boy

    4.  Prince Caspian

    5.  The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

    6.  The Silver Chair

    7.  The Last Battle

If you can swing it, Focus on the Family produced a radio theatre production of all these books.  The CDs are wonderfully done and are favorites here!

We read and reread all of them. (We are actually reading The Voyage of the Dawn Treader right now again!)  We also love the Focus on the Family radio theater versions and have listened several times.
