I think I may have purchased an incorrect book – before I get totally bummed out, I thought I’d ask….I am planning to start the Greece unit in a few weeks (am currently playing catch up with egypt) and when I ordered I clicked on the source and saw the blue covered book “Famous Men of Greece” (yesterday’s classics) in the book finder -so that is the one I ordered. But now looking at the Sample download for the outline, it appears I need the version edited by the Shearers.
Can I use the one I have?? How different are they? Thanks for the help!
I haven’t seen the complete blue-covered book, but I believe most of the content will be the same. I would think you can use it.
The main portion I would want to make sure was in the blue-covered book was the first few paragraphs of the chapter called “The Gods of Greece.” Those introductory paragraphs explain how their myths didn’t actually happen, as well as the difference between myths and legends. You might want to make sure those paragraphs are included. I think they are very important for our children’s understanding.
Oh Wow! I somehow did not understand that I was to purchase the edited version. That book is why we stopped module 2 last year. My then 7 year old confused the myths with Bible stories. I did not have the right version of the book! Oh well, live and learn LOL
Woops, I didn’t get the edited version either. I just now checked it out, as well as The Greenleaf Guide to Famous Men of Greece, through our interlibrary loan, so we will see if there is a difference, and if that’ll help clarify things for us!
