We need a good dictionary for our homeschool. Are all dictionaries created equal? Any specific recommendations? I grew up with Websters. Thank you!

We have several dictionaries. In the homeschool community many like one from the 1800s that is in the public domain.
One of our favorites is Webster’s New 20th Century Dictionary of the English Language. It is unabridged, and was published in 1952. It has many special features such as Latin and Greek Bible name pronunciations.
I recently purchased a dictionary published in the 1990s on Amazon, because I didn’t want a new, politically correct version.
You can choose your favorite time period and get from then:)
Bob Jones University publishes a Christian Student Dictionary that is nice.

We have Merriam Webster’s dictionary for children. It’s a good sized purple book (not too big or too small). I went with it because Susan Wise Bauer recommends it. Whether you are a Well Trained Mind fan or not, she does know her reference books! lol
It does not have word origins– if that’s a must, keep looking!
