I’ve heard good things about Diana Waring’s History Revealed curriculum and I have an older version of the Ancients  (teacher and student) but no CDs to go with it.  I will only have a 7th grader next year, so I am trying to decide if it is worth it to buy the new version of the books with the CD, if the CDs will work fine with the older History Alive version, or if I should just get the CDs.  I have thought of seeing if some of the other homeschoolers in our area would be interested in a “co-op” class of sorts where we meet twice a month just to share/present what we’ve been learning about, but those things don’t always work out for everyone.

We just finished using History Revealed Ancients. We liked it overall, but burned out on the heavily project based aspect.  Early and midway through the year was fantastic, but by 3/4 of the way through the kids would begin projects that sounded great and just lose enthusiasm.

Do you need the CDs?  Listen to the samples, make sure your child likes her speaking style.  Some of mine did, some really really did not.  I don’t know what your book version is like, you may not need to get new books.  You could just get the cds and divide them up on your own to decide what tracks to listen to each month.

Thanks, Tristan, those are good points to consider.  I will have to download the sample and give a listen.
