Great idea! We haven’t had the dyslexic issue so I have not had the need to research it. If I come across any interesting information, I will pass it along. I’m sure you’ll find what works for you. I do remember that one parent on Amazon said Spelling Power worked well for their dyslexic child. I was also interested in AAS until I read the same comment from four different parents. They said that their child would learn the rule, apply the rule to the words succesfully, but then not be able to apply it later on to new words. After that, I decided to move on… My impression is that LOE has a lot more thorough presentation of the rules. Kid-friendly? My son is a kinesthetic learner so I decided to use our Scrabble letter tiles and fill a baking pan with potato starch to trace letters and words. He thinks it’s fun. I like the 10-step multisensory approach of Power Spelling which I might apply to new words in SW. Anyway, AAS may work well for you; every situation is different.
Just wondering if you’ve made any headway in the decision making process? One other item I found is that How To Teach Spelling is a condensed version of AAS. Some mom’s use it because of the savings.
Really? I think a friend of mine just gave me that, or at least part of it. But I’m out of town visiting my dad, so will have to check when we get home. I’ll definitely have a closer look at it. Thanks. 🙂
