Deciding on a language arts program

I am having such a hard time finding a language arts curriculum that we like.  If I tell you what I’ve tried and what I liked/didn’t like about it, maybe somebody could jump in and suggest something that would be a good fit.  I’ve read so many reviews, my eyes are glazing over!

We’ve used LLATL and Queen’s.  I find them to be too easy.  We’ve used Sonlight.  I like it quite well in the earlier grades, but we’re at Core 5 now and I find it very difficult.  I have an OLD version of Easy Grammar that we are using for grammar and I like that, but it isn’t a complete program and I find myself adding in spelling, dictation, copywork, vocabulary and writing.  I’m teaching children at five different levels right now and I would really just like to find something comprehensive so I don’t feel like I’m juggling 20 balls at the same time.  Help!  Can anyone recommend something that would be a good fit for us? Thanks,

    Jean

It sounds like you’re looking for an all-in-one language arts program. A wonderful CM mom here mentioned Total Language Plus a few months back. Though it may not be for everyone, we’ve begun using it and are loving it!

    Heather-

I’ve been contemplating using TLP next year for my boys (will be 16, 12, and 11 then).  Can you describe the program and how you use it and what ages?  Actually, any info would be a help 🙂
