I am very interested in the Hymns in Prose for Children that you just introduced, but was wondering what the difference is in the cursive styles offered.

What is the difference between Zaner Bloser Cursive and D’Nealian Cursive?

I’ll let Sonya describe it, but if you download the free sample book there are pages in each of the four styles so you can compare.

I tried to do that but these tired eyes couldn’t tell a difference Smile

The main difference appears to be the degree of the slant. Since D’Nealian print teaches the children to write their letters with a slight slant, then the D’Nealian cursive just connects those already-slightly-slanted letters.

I think either one is readable and looks good.

Somebody with more experience with D’Nealian want to chime in?

The D’Nealian also has all lowercase letters begin on the baseline. Compare letters like a, c, g to see what I mean. I teach cursive first, skipping print, so that is the most important thing for me. Having all lowercase start in the same place simplifies the learning process a bit.

Thanks Sonya and Missceegee! That information is very helpful.
