I just saw on the news that a county here in NC is completely eliminating cursive from their 3rd grade curriculum…..because the teachers are saying they don’t have time. Wow, it takes me about 10-15 minutes 😉 They are planning instead to teach keyboarding. So, my thought is where will they find the time for tHAt? How is a child to develop a “signature”? What about losing such a beautiful form of communication? I guess knowing how to spell check and print are more important…how sad.

And, unfortunately, spell check doesn’t always get it right! Spell check can’t tell if it is the appropriate word…their, they’re, or there. Seems to go along with spelling phonetically, not correctly. Seems to be the running theme in schools these days…whatever is easiest!

It is sad but at the same time makes us feel like we are doing the right thing homeschooling!! I am so glad I do not live in a country were homeschooling is illegal!
