I have seen this book recommended over and over for nature study.  Amazon has quite a few used copies, so I finally ordered it.  It came today and I’m very impressed with it!  It’s divided by months of the year and full of quotes, drawings, and other information.  It’s also much bigger than I was expecting…it’s almost 200 pages!

If any of you already have this, I’d love to hear how you use it with your DC!

It is beautiful, isn’t it? I found mine at an antique store for $5 this summer and snapped it up. Once the owner of the store started flipping through it, he had a hard time giving it up!

We mainly use it for my more artistically inclined kids…for inspiration. And I use it to show the children how she noted the details of the natural world as the year progressed.

As Sonya say, though, be careful showing it to your perfectionists. You don’t want them to quit because they feel they can’t ever do that level of work!

It is so lovely. We have it at our local library, so we’ve taken it out a couple of times during different seasons. Beautiful.
