    Hi There!
My almost 10 yr old has dyslexia and trouble with writing. She chose to learn cursive and has been working in Classical Cursive this year. She does tire easily from writing.

I am looking for a copywork/dictation resource that would also maybe point out a grammar rule or literary point with the copywork and then we would use the passage as dictation. I’d love the passages to be chosen from books she could be reading. I wish I had time to make this curriculum!

Does this already exist? I have used Spelling Wisdom in the past with my older children but as things get busier, I find myself neglecting the other language arts areas. I would use EFTTC or Primary Language Lessons, but it is and so an add-on to everyday copywork and to what we are already learning. My daughter cannot yet copy a passage from a book and write it in cursive.

The only thing that seems to fit the bill is the Writer’s Jungle Arrow subscription, but when I think about it, that’s an awful lot of money by the end of the year. I don’t know that I would pay close to a $100 for language arts.

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

    Blessings,
    Betty

Queen’s Language Lessons and Serl’s Primary Language Lessons are short and point out grammar. Minimal copywork per lesson. Inexpensive.

Queen’s LL is very good, but we found that the copywork in LL for the Secondary Child to be extremely long. So be sure you get a level that works for you.

Writing Tales has the same sort of combination that you are looking for.

Learning Language Arts Through Literature is another series that combines some grammar, copywork, dictation, reading and spelling.

I’ve used Queen’s and Serl’s and they are good.  I’ve never heard of Writing Tales.  LLATL, I’ve bought and sold 2 or 3 times.  Just couldn’t make it work.  What I really like the look of is Sonlight’s LA but I am not interested in using the whole thing.  I just purchased 5 back issues of the Arrow for $25 with homeschoolbuyers coop.  I think I will do that and look into Spelling Wisdom book 1.
