My daughter is doing her first official year of homeschooling and WANTS to do copywork. She wants to do it like her older brothers and sister do. She already copies everything she sees. She knows how to write all the letters and knows the sounds they make. She is progressing nicely in her reading. But being that this is new to her I don’t want to overwhelm her. I’ve tried to find short copywork passages for her to do with no luck. I don’t know how to start her on copywork..

Have you looked at the Ambleside list for first grade?  There is a yahoo group called AOCOPYWORK and they have many ideas in PDF form under the files section.

Other ideas would be childrens poems or sentences from great books like the Little House series and Charlottes Web.

If you were looking to buy a book, Queens Copywork for Little Girls might work.

It is also available at Rainbow Resource.
