I am thinking of changing my high schoole’rs schedule to more of a block focus. He doesn’t like doing math everyday and I can see some boredom setting in other area.  Not that the mateiral is boring at all, but that everyday is somewhat the same. We do vary our fine arts component daily, but other wise the order of and list of subjects is the same. Also, I would like to see him move faster in Spanish and math  and I think that giving him more time for each but less days would accomplish that.

So… thinking of going with Even/Odd schedule. We would do our daily SCM module lesson family piece together and our fine arts component, read alouds too, but independently he would do Math, Spanish, History, and extra literature on even days and Science, English, Law&Government, and writing on odd days. Just a thought.  Any experience with this? Any advice?

At the high school level I don’t see any harm in giving it a try:) The main concern I would have is math only twice a week. My 8th grader is doing Algebra every day and is pretty spent after just one days lesson:) I’d also probably encourage him to break up the lessons through the day, maybe rotating and coming back to subjects. If you try it please let us know how it goes:)
