I am about to buy a laptop (hopefully not too pricey). Any of you have one that you like, one with recommended wireless printer maybe? I do a lot of school print outs and that feature would be nice, I think. I am not a fancy gadget person, so just basic stuff like school and also pictures is what I do mostly.
I bought a laptop last spring from Staples that came with a coupon to buy a wireless printer for $60. I am very happy with them both and totally spoiled to wireless printing! No need to be all crammed up with the printer on a short leash! In fact I don’t even have the printer intalled near my computer LOL.
I can tell you what I have – although I wouldn’t really call it a recommendation since I don’t know that much about it LOL. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 7740. (Very similar to this one.) It is still working great almost a year later, and Windows 7 seems easy to navigate. It is big – what ever the biggest screen is that you usually see, like 17″ probably. Had a hard time finding a bag to carry it in, when I do carry it places. The printer is HP officejet 4500 – an all in one scan print copy fax. I will be using it as my main printer soon since my laser printer has one foot in the grave, so I needed one that gave me all those features. It works great and it is so small! I have never had a color printer before and it prints beautifully – so much fun to print the phonics books for ds in color!
Have you looked at Tiger Direct online for computers? They have a huge selection and often some really good deals on refurbished models – I have bought them in the past. I am on the email list for Staples and they had the computer I got on special ( I think it was a couple of hundred dollars off!) through that list. I recommend getting on their list if you are in the market and watching their sales for a while.
Have fun! I know you will enjoy whatever new tech you get. Having a laptop has been wonderful for homeschooling – we are so portable!
This is good to know! Thanks for your response Gem! If you have a second more to respond, did you think the wireless was hard to set up?
I am looking forward to a more convenient way of doing things. Right now I have to wait for hubby to bring his laptop home from work for printing out things, and half the time I can’t remember what I needed beforehand to print out. LOL.
