Combining Modules 2 and 3

I know there has been a lot of talk around about people who are combinig some or all of the first three history modules together.  This year my family is doing Module 1 together, but next year I would like to combine modules 2 and 3.  It was easy for me to cut down some time in module 2-I do history 2x week, and in module 2 it is only listed as once, so that was easy.  However, in module 3 history is already done 2x week.  I”m just curious what some people are cutting out (as far as family history) and how to know what is important and what is not.  As far as independent reads for the different age groups go, I am going to assign some books that must be read, and then leave some time for them to choose from some of the books to read what they would like, and we will just try to get through as much as we can.
