I was looking at Cobblestone magazine and can’t get a feel for it.
Does anyone have experience with it?
Would you consider it revisionist history or neutral and balanced?
I have no problem with an objective and factual analysis about America’s mistakes and successes, but I can’t stand for anti-American, progressive revisionism.

I had never heard of it until your post, then went on a hunt to find out more about it. I came across this review by The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. I also found a few reviews of specific older issues on Amazon. It appears as though it is not revisionist history, though I couldn’t preview any of them. I only looked at a couple of different links, though, so if you haven’t done a search for reviews of Cobblestone Magazine, you may find more reviews to give you a better handle on the magazine.

Thanks. I hadn’t thought of looking up a review at TOS. I think the reviewer there would’ve referred to any content that she thought reflected a revisionist (i.e. gov’t.school-like), PC version of Am. His.
I am considering a asking for gift subscriptions to the Calliope (W.His.) and the Cobblestone.

We haven’t read their history magazines. We did have subscriptions to some of their other magazines at one time, though, and I don’t recall ever running across objectionable articles or subject matter in them.

May I ask which other Cricket mags. ya’ll have enjoyed? I’m considering Odyssey (my dad wants to get the children a science mag.).

We had Dig and Odyssey, and my boys enjoyed them both. My oldest said that Odyssey was a bit simplistic in his opinion. However, he was at the upper end of the age range when we had that subscription, and he’s a serious science nut to boot. The other boys loved them both.

Okay, then I need to ask about what you said about Odyssey. My son is almost 13 adn reads his science texts in his leisure. He wouldn’t like a simplistic text.
Is there another science mag. that he/you liked with more meat?
My son will be getting Answers from AIG, which he likes a lot – reading and savoring the whole thing; but my dad wants to get him a non-YE science mag., too.
I decided no on Muse because of the joking it said was in it.
What about Discover KIDs? Any experience with that one? I want one without ads.

We haven’t found any science magazines, sadly. There’s too much atheistic content. I don’t mind discussions of evolution, etc., but in some of these magazines, we’ve actually seen articles explaining why God can’t exist. After a while, we gave up trying.
My son is almost 17 now. He likes http://www.sciencedaily.com. He says there are lots of articles on evolution and the like, but he hasn’t noticed any atheistic content. However, if you prefer reading only from a young earth, literal seven day creation perspective, this site would not work for you. Jared also reads a lot of Wikipedia articles.

No, I don’t mind some evolutionary, but not atheistic. I’m looking for something to go alongside, or in additon to, Answers that is not YE. I would actually prefer one that is old-eart creation over evolutionary, so he’s getting both YE and OE perspectives, but I don’t think one exists.
May be Odyssey is agood one to start with and he can tell me if it’s too juvenile; as it sounds like it doesn’t have articles that are too offensive.
