    I have a soon to be 5 year old, and was wondering if you all had good suggestions for a birthday gift..a favorite book or craft or game that will give many years of enjoyment but yet suitable for that age?

    Last year I gave her a sweet storybook called Brambly Hedge, it is still one of her favorites to read. 🙂

    I got my 5yo a French Knitter  (spool knitter) – she just had her birthday and hasn’t used it yet so don’t know how good it will be…   Also maybe a pom-pom maker?

    Haven’t tried it – but there are Montessori based children’s tools….

    My daughter is almost 8 and she loves her Alex Giant Weaving Loom. You can make a purse, scarf, and belt. She is excited to buy new yarn to make gifts for her sisters. It says 7+ but I think with mom’s help a 5 yr old could enjoy it now and years down the road. I bought my 8 yr old dd story books from Christian Light Publications for her birthday coming up. My daughters also like the game Blokus.
