Now before anyone asks when this feature will be done, let me be clear that we are only considering possibilities and there is no guarantee if or when we might do something like this or even something totally different. That said, we are exploring the idea of adding a weekly subject summary grid to your CM Organizer schedule and we would like your feedback.
What if we built a weekly subject overview and put it at the top of your schedule page? How useful would this be to you? Would this be a good place for it? Would it push the other things down too far and get in your way? Here’s a mock up image:
Now what if we did the same thing as you are building your schedule so you can see how your subjects are distributed through the week? Again, would this push down the other stuff too much? Would it be useful as you are scheduling? Here are a couple mock ups with and without the assignment details expanded.
Speaking of those things that get pushed down when you’re scheduling, how often do you look at your schedule on that page while you are building it? What if it went away and made the scheduling page load faster? Which would be the better tradeoff?
Feel free to discuss any aspects of this you like. We’d like to interact for a while and learn from you before deciding what we might like to do with it. Thanks!
Ummm, I’m totally loving this possible future feature! I don’t think it crowds the page at all, and it doesn’t bother me if it pushes my other stuff. It’s pretty easy to scroll down. I’m a pen-and-paper scheduler myself, then go in and put all my stuff into the CMO Scheduler, but I can see how this could really eliminate that extra step I take.
Honestly, if there was a way to put that type of grid on my Daily Plan page, that would be great. I think that a lot of moms are always asking for ways to see upcoming stuff on the Daily Plan page, and this feature could solve that issue. I also think that having it at the top of the Daily Plan page could help for students who are working independently or transitioning to more independent work. If they wanted to work ahead in their independent subjects, they could simply glance at the top of their plan and know what they could (or could not) do.
Just yesterday, I was wishing for a way to see it all laid out without having to look at my paper schedule for the week. I like seeing it both in the schedule building and just the daily grid.
I know you’re not promising anything, but this will be reaaaaaally great if it happens. 🙂

I don’t use the organizer so you can take what I say with a grain of salt.
But….if I were using it, I would think that this would be a really nice feature to have. I looked at the samples. The first link you gave, I love how it gives the chart showing who is doing what on each day of the week at a quick glance. That would be extremely helpful for me. Just curious, any potential this could be a downloadable organizer that you can purchase and then download to your computer?
I am not using the organizer, but I would like to be able to print out a weekly “to do” schedule like you currently can print for daily. I know it could change each day if we missed something. But it would be nice to hand my students a schedule of goals for the week.
Thumbs up Doug! I love it because I love to see “the big picture” in one place and then the details after that. Please keep up the awesome work. I hope it works out!
We’re glad y’all are liking this idea. We’ve been exploring it further based on some of your feedback and we have a few more things we’d like to get your thoughts on.
LindseyD suggested putting the weekly subject grid on the Daily Plan as well as the Scheduler. Here’s a mock up image of that:
Do you like the idea of seeing a weekly subject grid on the Daily Plan? Would it push your assignments too far down the page? Is it better collapsible so you don’t have to see it all the time?
Instead of putting it on all those pages, would it be better as a button that would show it anywhere in an overlay? Here’s a mock up image of that idea:
Finally, we’re wondering how many of you would want to print only the weekly subject grid. Would you find it helpful if there was an option to print just that chart without the rest of your schedule or Daily Plan?
Hey Jordan… I looked at the first mockup and thought… ‘it would be nice if you could collapse it’, then read on, and you had read my mind. So I vote for collapsable!
I prefer it on the pages instead of on an overlay/popup box – but I could see how that might be easier for the programmer….
Collapsible and on individual pages is my vote. I don’t prefer an overlay. I am also one who would prefer to print just a weekly schedule grid, that would save so much paper and ink.
