One of my personal goals this year is to get all my school-related tasks done on Monday – Friday so that I can be more fully available to just enjoy time with my family on the weekends. Is there a way that I can print (or at least see) what Monday’s schedule will be on the Friday before so I have time to get everything gathered and ready to go instead of having to do it on Sunday?
If you click the “See Tomorrow’s Plan” link, that will show you tomorrow. So if you click it on Friday, you’ll see Saturday, even if there isn’t work scheduled to be done on Saturday.
Right now, there isn’t a way to see more than tomorrow’s schedule. We do have some ideas for improving this while still keeping the flexible way the CMO works, and we have those on our wish list of features to build in the future.
One of the things that I’ve been doing to “get around” this is that I’ve been clicking on “show assignments not scheduled for today (I do it on Saturday or Sunday, so it may not work on a Friday – but probably would!)” Then I expand everything so it will print out in a report, THEN I show upcoming assignments for anything that will have more than one assignment completed for the week – for example history, but not swim lessons – which would just be one time. Then I print it out and then HANDWRITE M, T, W, T, F or M, W, F or whatever day they are working on it and give a copy to my girls for their notebooks (they are 7 and 9). Then they only need one printout for the entire week and they can highlight what day they work on the assignment or write the day by each assignment and I also have them write their score for certain things – like percentage correct on their online computer math drill. Then at the end of the week, I can EASILY go through and check off which day things were worked on or completed and enter scores into the notes section. I am LOVING this!!!! It perfectly suits my desire to have a paper “planner” in front of me without having all the work of keeping up with a paper planner.
Jordan – it WOULD be nice if the print out would automatically include the days an assignment is to be worked on, but writing it in, is really not taking too much time and the farther along we get in the school year, I anticipate that I won’t have to do it at all because they’ll know what days they are supposed to be working on certain assignments!
YEAH!!! LOVE it – Thanks to suzukimom and misty for the excellent tips on the upcoming assignments – it’s changed my life! (well, at least made keeping up with the organizer much more doable for me).
Thank you for your replies. It is so wonderful to have a place where we can all bring our questions, ideas, etc. and find such helpful support. I SO appreciate this forum!
Once my daughters (6 and 8) get used to doing the daily check list and I get used to the daily flow of using the organizer, I think I will try the idea of printing out a whole week of assignments. Rebekah, thanks for taking the time to type out exactly how you do that. It seems like it could be a good option for me.
