I’ve decided to go ahead and try out the CM organizer…even though I only have 10 days left on my free trial and haven’t used it yet…Embarassed.  I was a little frustrated by how much time it was taking me to get everything loaded up and I quit…but then after all of these rich discussions on the board about it’s usefulness I have to give it a go!  Hopefully I can get a feel for it quickly.

Anyway, my kids are 4, 6 and 8 and we read all of our science and history, etc.  aloud.  Should I schedule these subjects as “family” or under each individual child’s name.  I guess I am wondering if I schedule it as a family item, will it show up on reports as completed for each child?

    Thanks!

The idea is that you would do anything done all together as “family”.  Right now, unless I missed a change, it doesn’t show up on the children’s reports – you need to do a family report.

(For that reason, as well as figuring out what to do if one of my kids miss something… or the fact that my kids tend to be a bit more in groups instead of one big family group…. – I go to the work of entering things in seperately per child.)

It can take a bit of time to enter everything in the first time – especially if using a lot of resources not in the bookfinder…   but it is well worth it.  When the “sharing” feature is finished, there will be a LOT more in the bookfinder, I would think… making it even easier.   As my kids will be doing similar things in the same grade… I look forward to already having most of the stuff in!

That said, once you put the things in, things are SO easy!
