We at Living Books Library have been working on an audio version of The Original Homeschooling Series. We’re over halfway through with Volume 4: Ourselves, which CM wrote to be read by STUDENTS! If you’d like to listen to a sample, or want more information on this project, please visit: http://www.livingbookslibrary.com/p/charlotte-mason-audio.html.
Thank you for sharing. I did not realize that any of the books are for children to read. I do not have the printed set; only what’s on the computer; and have not read.
I see there are 4 segments to volume 4: A to D. Would my 8 year old need only to listen to segment A as the Book 1 portion? And is it okay for a 5 year old to listen in?
We’ve published the installments in approximate CD length segments. All four of those segments are from Book I, and the next one we publish, in two weeks will have the end of Book I on it.
Basically Book I is an allegory, kind of like Pilgrim’s Progress, for children to learn about, think about, understand their characters. It’s fine for anyone to listen to. Though you will probably want to have your younger children “study” the book again when they are old enough. And of course, there is much food for thought for adults as well!
