CM 1st Grade Language Arts Help

I need some wisdom from other CM moms. My son is in 1st grade, and I have a 5 month baby girl. We did homeschool in Kindergarten, and during the second semester we used more of a CM approach to Language Arts. It was so lovely. We did copywork, and read from little readers. I previously had used ABeka, which was just too rigid. I want to use CM throughout our homeschool this year, and am having a hard time deciding what to do for LA. I see that SCM is coming out with a new Delightful Reading, and am interested in trying it out, along with Delightful Handwriting. For those of you who have used these products, what did you like abou them? My son is at a beginner reading level, and can write most letters, some from memory. I need something that I can use from his level, onward. Would these work for us, and would I need to supplement anything else?

Also, I’ve looked at Queen’s Language Lessons for The Very Young? Any thoughts, and if so – did you supplement when using it?
