Hi there cloth diapering moms 🙂
My daughter is finally big enough to fit in the cloth diapers I purchased, (she was born early so we had to wait) but I am a bit scared of the poo diaper… I know some moms use diaper liners so you just basically peel the liner off with poo on it and flush so no big mess, but while she is still so young and only on formula (adopted so couldn’t breast feed) her poops are totally runny. So.. I am assuming liners would be useless? If so, do you just have to basically hose down the poo cloth diapers with the big mess she makes in them? And when does poo start to firm up so you can use liners? When they start baby food around 4 months-ish? Any advise and wisdom from you cloth diapering moms I would really appreciate!

Try the liners anyway – even though the poo is liquidy it still peels off with the liner. if I remember correctly. The liners are the one thing that really made cloth diapering work for me! I had all breastfed babies so don’t know about the formula poo, but I think you should be seeing loose stool, gravy-like?, but not liquidy like watery. I know that my first was so tiny she didn’t fit into the cloth diapers at first, but with my second I bought a few in newborn size and used them right away – so I must have been successful with the liners. Funny how I don’t remember every detail anymore LOL.
It is worth a try to see if you can make it work – saves so much money! I have also heard of some kind of thing that attaches to the potty and hoses the diaper off into the toilet? Some other moms here might know about that.

We’re cloth diaperers here (soon to be mom of 6). My husband actually came up with the best idea several children ago – buy a pair of yellow rubber cleaning gloves just for wearing when you clean diapers. It is no big deal then to put the diaper into the toilet water and rub off any poo for those early stages before the poo is solid and rolls off. Then wash your gloved hands in soapy water. You’re all set!

LOVE it! it is a mini sprayer that hooks up easily to your toilet–and it is very powerful! Shop around for a good priced one. It is worth it –especially when you are potty training –you know when they have accidents in their training pants -yuk! You will end up using it for many things –especially if you are having more children.
Another thing about diaper liners –some of them feel like hard scratchy paper –you don’t want that against your babys bum. I found some diaper liners that feel really soft and work even for people with touchy septic systems.
They are bumkins flushable diaper liners –100% biodegradable and VERY soft!

Hi,
We cloth diaper, and while the babies are nursing, I just put the dirties straight into the washing machine – it washes out fine. We also use the bumkins flushables once they start on solids.
Have to go – baby into everything!
