Is anyone familiar with this series by a high school science teacher? He developed these books for homeschoolers after teaching homeschool science classes.
The thread about Apologia science for high school reminded me of the above resource which has books for elementary through high school. On a side note, my high school science courses were not very rigorous. (I took College Prep courses at an excellent school.). The chemistry course I took in high school was probably the most challenging for most students because of the math involved for balancing equations. I took a regular lab science in college and some lab courses designed for education majors. The regular course was more rigorous than the courses for teachers (elementary teachers), but as long as I went to class, listened, took notes, did the assigned work, studied for the test, completed the labs I made As. I am not science oriented (love nature and the outdoors but not inside lab and book work). Perhaps my high school science provided a foundation for college science, but mostly high school science gave me the opportunity to study and apply my thinking to topics that I would not naturally be drawn to. Would homeschool high school science not do the same- challenge students to work/study beyond their natural proclivity?
I love Mr. Q’s. I did a little tweaking to eliminate any busywork and added more living books. Used the high school books with my children-both now graduated, but would have used the elementary if they were available.
