Clarence Carson: A Basic history ~~ opinions?

    If you’ve used Clarence Carson’s Basic History of the US for high school, I’d love to hear opinions on it, or how you used it.  Or, if you used something else for American history for high school, what did you use?  Thanks.

    Our dd is using the Carson books in conjunction with a TruthQuest history guide. She really just reads assigned sections as they pertain to various topics of study.  I’ve only read short excerpts personally.  They do look a little heavy sledding, for lack of a better term, to just sit down and read straight through.  On the other hand, I do like the fact that Carson sites and relies heavily on primary source documents.
