My kids have developed an interest in the Civil War. We are studying Ancient Rome though and I thought maybe I will just give them a couple of good books and a video that is appropriate and well done for all ages. Any suggestions?
I found some really good ones at the library. I can’t remember the names of them right now but maybe when we go to the library I can look them up again. I like the “Decades” videos though. they were really good. They were also at our library. They were very detailed and told what was going on every 10 years throughout history. Very informative! We plan on watching these again. I even thought about buying them.
Does anyone know what ages are appropriate for viewing Gone With the Wind? I know the setting is Civil War. It has been a while since I seen it. Is it okay for all ages? It is “unrated”. Thanks.
Also, is this mostly a lot of Hollywood drama, or would there be educational value about the war and the time period?
One neat movie is Friendly Persuasion: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049233/. Not a lot of war details, but funny movie about a Quaker family being challenged in their pacifist views when the war reachers their doorstep. Very well done! Blessings, Gina
