Recently our church leaders have been talking about looking for a curriculum that allowed the whole church to be on the same Page. They are really looking for something that incorporates a chronological survey of the Bible over perhaps a three year period. They want something that really reveals the connectivness of the Bible as a historical narrative, something that allows families to be on the same Page no matter if they are in the junior, elementary classes or the adult service. Jokingly they suggested that they could add writing curriculum to my job description (I work part time as the administrative assistant at our church). I immediately thought of the SCM guides as they were talking because of the chronological Bible history and the ease of use with a wide age group. Of course it would have to go much beyond that with so many other elements. It is completely different than what we are doing now with our kids curriculum which is virtue based pulling stories from both the old and new testament to support the theme of the month. We are in a big transition year where as a church body we are evaluating everything we are doing and if we are on track with God’s plans for our ministry.
Sorry, to make a long story short, is anyone aware of a Chronological Bible based whole church program suitable for an conservative evangelical church? Perhaps your church is using something like this?
