I want to do a few Christmas picture studies before Christmas and they do not need to be from the same artist. Can you share your favorites?

Have you tried Norman Rockwell? We studied him last Christmas.

A couple of years ago, one of the major art museums in New York had put together the Christmas story with music and scripture to view online. I was just trying to find it and couldn’t, but did find this:

One of my favorites is the nativity scene by Georges de La Tour. The use of light and shadow is incredible.

Hi Missy,
My girls are nearly 13 – 18, and we are going through the story of Jesus’ birth from the annunciation through the flight to Egypt in paintings. The link that sheraz provided is one that I found some of the pictures that we will view. There are others as well. I tried to pin several onto my Christmas Unit board on pinterest. I have had a hard time deciding which artist to do, until now! I’m buying Giotto from SCM, as it has a nativity painting and is perfect for advent this year!

I really find Rembrandt’s pictures of Christ as a baby – interesting, moving, and adoring. Here is a neat sight with Rembrants pictures of Christ.
