Was wondering if anyone knows of christmas cd’s that contain all carols/hymns about Christ? I appreciate the oldies Perry, Bing, … But they always have santa and reindeer mixed in. I don’t like new “modern” songs and singers.
Have you ever heard Michael Card’s The Promise: A Celebration of Christ’s Birth? It is mildly modern but it’s such a Christ-centered treatment of Christmas based on the Biblical accounts. It’s certainly one of my all-time favorites.
You might try some of the ‘King’s College Cambridge’ cds. The voices are lovely and the Bible readings throughout are read beautifully. KCC has also made music only’ cds if you’d prefer that.
If you have iTunes (or you can download it for free) you can download just the songs you want of the singers you like. That is what we did with the old singers that I love (like Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, etc).
Tom Hemby Acoustic Christmas and Christmas with Julie Andrews are two I like that have very few Santa songs.
