Chigger Bites?

Last Tuesday my kids and I went to the local beach.  Only one of my children who was playing and digging deep in the mud seems to show signs of chiggers.  He had a bit of iching but that has really gone now.  Now he is only left with tons of little red dots all over the palm of his hands and bottom of his feet.

How long will they last?  Is this really chiggers or could it be something else?  Any thoughts would be great.  Thanks Misty

Never heard of chigger bites on hands and feet. Or that they live in mud. I always got chiggers in the woods or grass that hadn’t been cut. If it is chiggers, and the itch is gone, I wouldn’t worry about it. The spots will be gone soon.

I have had lots of chigger bites LOL and this does not sound like chigger to me.  Have you googled swimmer’s itch?

    Good luck!

I agree with the others, it doesn’t sound like chiggers. We use to live in MO & the boys got the dreaded chiggers quite frequently. It was always from tall weeds, grass and woods. Also the chigs liked to go straight to tight warm places Undecided – we never got them on our hands. Hope your little guy is feeling better soon.

Hmm?  I will look up swimmers itch (though it doesn’t nor did it really itch) but it’s somewhere to start.  We get chiggers here in MN when the weather gets warm and the alge in the lakes get worse.  I just figured this must be it, but now I’m not so sure.  Thanks everyone I’ll do some more research.  Misty
