We used calamine lotion when we were little.  Hope that helps!  Yuck, yuck, yuck.  I still remember that itchy feeling, and I was only like 5!  Prayers that it passes quickly!

A paste made from baking soda and water can help take away some of the itch (although not all, unfortunately).  We use it on bug bites with success.  I’ve heard to have a warm bath and then rub it on.

Oh, the memories….I got Chicken Pox from my brother, who was 3 at the time, when I was 16!  I broke out the Tuesday before what was supposed to be my “first date” (Prom) with my now husband (awwwwww…)

ANYWAY, I took a lot of oatmeal baths.  We just put real oatmeal in a clean knee-high stocking and ran a warm bath.  It was very soothing.  Also, watch a lot of movies LOL

    Hugs!

Zinc will help also with iching.  I second the oatmeal baths.  They are great for reducing the iching.  I would make sure it’s not hot though.  Just warm.

I’m so sorry about your kids getting chicken pox. I know how terrible it can be. My son has a rare immune issue and his body does not recognize the chicken pox virus so he had 10 rounds in a row then developed shingles. We used all of the above, the calamine lotion, ( he said did not work) many oatmeal baths a day, we also soaked real oatmeal in stocking and sat it on the worst of it, like a pultice. If you have a health food store I found something called Chickweed Salve. It saved his life!! I started him on homeopathics for viruses, that combined with the chickweed salve, he hasn’t had any blisters in 3 months! YAAA.  Wish you the best. OH.. BTW watch out for giving orange juice or certain foods incase your kid get them in their mouth. Undecided  If the blisters are severe and on or near the eye’s you can get an antiviral that will clear it up quick but it must be started within 24 hours of blister onset.  He had to use it many times.

    Hang in there.

Have you ever heard of Colloidal Silver?  That works for a lot of stuff.

YIKES! Inside your eyelids!  OH kymom, so sorry your son had to go through all of that! How awful! We have a GNC that keeps a lot of alternative meds there. I will call to see if they happen to have it…though I doubt it!

And my dh had the shingles 2 wks ago. Hence, the breakout!

Kristen, yes! We use silver here. I thought about it but haven’t found anything about using it for the pox!

    Thanks ladies!

Yeah, when I got chicken pox because my mom had shingles.  At that time, most doctors said you couldn’t get chicken pox from shingles…. but I sure did.

My kids had it last winter and we did oatmeal baths and creams. They did like one bath each because they didn’t like the dirty water LOL! I found an oatmeal cream near the calamine that seemed to help them quite alot. My kids didn’t complain of itch, they said the blisters hurt. If you use otc meds you can also give benadryl and Ibuprofen for the pain, fever and itching but I found they did fine without. My kids got really bad on day 4 of the rash so just brace yourself. They had them in their throats and eyelids and privates too. Hang in there!

Kymom, my son is immune deficient too. We expect he may lose his titers but so far they seem to be OK. Poor kiddos 🙁

All the good advice. I agree with the Collidal silver too! It kills viruses. Not a hot bath. My horror story was…

They say you can’t get it again… Wrong.  If you have had any steriod injection in 5 yrs you Can get it again. Trust me! I just went to drop something off at my in-laws and my neice answered the door. Didn’t think I could get it. when I broke out I thought man I can’t stop itching. I pulled up my shirt and on my belly it looked like Chicken Poxs. This was confirmed by my mother. She also said,” you can’t have those you had them already.” I laughed went straight to the internet and did my research. So just to inform all those with steriod injections don’t go near anyone with the Chicken Pox. 🙂 I also would try epsom salts. It seems to pull out the poisons.

My husband almost died from Chicken Pox. He was dehydrated because they were in his mouth and throat so bad. He lived off of Water melon for 2 weeks. So if you do get them in the throat and can’t eat anything remember water melon doesn’t hurt.  Hope they feel better soon.  🙂

Here we are day 4. Pox are all over except not to bad on legs. I think some inside mouth and ear. He is doing well! A real trooper! Had a fever last night..but that is to be expected! You want a fever to fight it off!

Still watching my older boy. Not anything yet. And he was exposed to dad too! Want to be finished by Thanksgiving! 🙂

Will start the silver today! Chocodog, that is interesting about the injections! And might have to get the watermelon afterall..so far he has been eating today.

Fyrebloom, yes he has them everywhere Embarassed  He said, I got them there too?? …..AWWW

    Thanks ladies for your comments!
