Ladies, I am so very excited about this upcoming CMI.  Only 73 more days to go!  I feel my tank running low, and really desire that immersion in a dedicated CM conference.  Who else will be heading out to Boiling Springs, NC June 11 – 14?

    I’m coming with 3 ladies from my CM co-op. I can’t wait!

Have any of you been before?  I can’t get a feel of how the conference works from the site.  Is it just immersion groups or will there be group talks and then breakout sessions?  And it spoke of children cost.  Are you suppose to bring them with you as well?

    Thanks,

    Amy

I won’t know until last minute if I can go. If our heifer (never before milked cow) is cooperating AND I can scrape up the money, I will be there.

Amy, the immersion groups are extra before the main conference starts. I believe Christie attended those last year. There are all of the things on your list. Group talks, chats, book shopping. I know there were children there last year but mine weren’t so I can’t speak to that. I don’t know that there was a lot geared for them.

    It’s wonderful. Such an inspiration.

Yes, I went last year and attended an immersion group. Immersion groups are Wednesdays and optional. I’m attending the high school one this year. The main conference is Thursday – Saturday with a keynote and breakout sessions. I do not take my children and would advise against it unless they are older teens interested. I do not feel you can soak up all that is offered if you’re also taking care of your kiddos. That said, there were plenty of little ones there. There is no children’s program, they simply would sit with you in the sessions.

Ok so the basic price is for the Thurs-Sat. And if I am not going to do an immersion group that is all I sign up for correct? And what about husbands? do many come?

    Sorry for all the questions

Amy, some husbands do come.  E from my CM group will be there with her husband. I think that if your husband did come, he would be able to wrap his head around CM’s ideas and have a much better feel for how they work, if he doesn’t already.  That said, my dh will not be attending nor did he attend last year due to work.

I have to say this is VERY different from any homeschool convention – at least any that I’ve ever attended.  CMI is very laid back whereas with the HS conventions, it seems one is always in a rush, and there is a mass of humanity constantly swirling which makes sitting to think on anything so much more difficult.  CMI attendees are encouraged to take some time out, sit, and think on some of the things you learn.

Also, while every plenary and seminar is full of CM’s methods and many include the practical application thereof, the Immersion groups are VERY helpful.  I highly recommend them – even if you’re an old hand at it.

I wish we had some sort of scm identifier to find one another. Maybe our twaddle-free t-shirts? Or if we could get that design on a nice canvas bag? Or something altogether different.

Wish I could go to something like that one day!

Can anyone provide a link to the conference website?  I am interested and would like to check it out.

Missceegee, I love the t-shirt or tote bag idea!! Tote bags would be for everyday, while I am sure we all don’t want to wear the same shirt everyday;) Or even to make it less complicated, what about just a certain color shirt everyday and finding a location and time to meet and put faces to names.  Of course, I don’t even know if I can go yet.  There I go getting ahead of myself again!!!

What if we had the tote bag made up, or, perhaps those who have the stamp could stamp their name tags as an identifier?
