Do any of you–or your children–learn/teach using Charlotte Mason methods in adulthood?
In any context–whether you (or your child) studied with Charlotte Mason methods in high school, then kept studying that way in college/grad school–or whether you’re simply self-educating in the Charlotte Mason way.
How do you do it? What subjects do you study? What has your experience been like?
I use CM methods in my own continuing education. Written narrations for various journals are helpful for me to refer back to when I’m learning something new, or going deeper into a subject. I also keep a common place notebook and nature journal. I do picture study and composer study with our last one left to Homeschool. She’s in 7th grade and it’s something we enjoy together. I narrate to her about books I’m reading. She does the same and also uses written narrations to keep memories of what she’s read/learned in various ways. We’re reading Ourselves, too, so that’s another way to continue learning CM style I subscribe to various CM blogs and enjoy many of the new books that are written by various blog authors
I have been teaching Sunday School for a while now using narration, composer, picture, hymn, and poetry studies. Works great for a variety of ages.
Our adult children continue to narrate what they are learning by phone, text, or in person. It’s just a way of life.
Its late, or I might add more, but these are ways I’m using CM methods in adulthood.
