Hi, everyone. My dd13 is VERY interested in art and seems to have an aptitude for it as well. I would like to be able to find a video (or series of them) that would teach her step by step how to draw, paint, etc. since I’m not artistic myself – preferably one she can do solo. Any suggestions?
We enjoyed the Barry Sebbing courses on the HowGreatThouArt.com website. They have many choices, and we also love the courses from Artistic Pursuits – my arty daughter highly recommends them. Both my daughters are high schoolers and one daughter is using a Stebbing course and the other is using Artistic Pursuits, and both work independently with no need for me to be involved except to admire their work. Hope that helps.
Oh sorry I sent before I mentioned that these courses are not video courses, but they work brilliantly as art courses. I think Barry Stebbing may have the odd video course but I have not looked in a while. Linda
In addition to the excellent ones mentioned by missingtheshire that are not DVD, there’s a great little inexpensive booklet called Drawing Textbook by Bruce McIntyre http://www.timberdoodle.com/Drawing_Textbook_p/040-173.htm This website says it’s out of print, which surprised me. We bought this several years ago. I bet you could find this used.
No work for mom, either. Totally independent work.
Also, Mona Brookes has several step by step drawing books for children. The library should have them.
I wish there were more DVD type programs, but I don’t know of any.
