Can anyone explain "Forms" IV, V, VI, etc.?

I was referencing Vol. 6 of the CM series today and it talks about Form IV, V, & VI. Can anyone shed some light on how this compares to modern day grade level or age? Does it go by year or term? I’ve seen this in the past and always wonder if there’s a trick to deciphering these levels.

Hi Melissa,
If you have the SCM math handbook, the forms are broken down into approximate U.S. grade and age. The forms are how schools describe the different stages of formal education – like what we think of as elementary, middle school, junior high and highschool. They are not always cut and dry though for translating into US grades as, during Charlotte’s time, many children stopped going to school at a much younger age than they do now, some went on to a trade school, prerequisites changed for university entrance, etc.

I list Form IV as approximate Grade 9 and Forms V & VI as approximately our 10th through 12th grades.

Thank you Richele. After posting, I actually remembered seeing the forms referenced in a chart in the math book
