My daughter, age 7 is almost done with the 2nd grade Reading Literature book and I would love to give her more fluency practice before letting her progress into longer, more difficult reading selections. I was wondering if anyone has used the Dover Classics by T. Burgess as readers? I noticed on Amazon it says “easy read print”. But, what age/grade level would these be good for? (I can’t see samples on Amazon from my phone). They just seem more intriguing than another set of “readers”. Thanks in advanced.
I possibly answered my own question since I discovered a kindle version for only $0.95. There were a good handful of words she didn’t know yet, so we may wait a bit longer on those.
I was curious to the answer for this so I’m glad you posted. My 8yo still needs more practice reading aloud. We really like the McGuffey readers. They aren’t as choppy as most early readers and they go through high school. Gutenberg.org has them for free if you are interested.
Thanks! I looked at those but, the phonetic symbols were really distracting for my daughter. I was pondering Elson or Pathway readers but, not really sure which would be better. I want the stories to grab/hold her attention.
