I am in process of purchasing the remaining year 1 books we plan to use next school year from Amazon…mostly used. Several others I have found over the past year at our local used book store.
Let me just say, ds (5 1/2) and I are very much enjoying looking through the books at the illustrations and reading snippets of chapters just for a preview of our homeschool next year! It’s going to be hard to wait several months to read them in full. So far we already read the Complete Tales of Winnie the Pooh, Tales of Beatrix Potter, and many other books from the SCM early years list or AO year 0 list. I’m looking forward to rereading these to my dd who will soon be 4.
The books we have gotten over the past weeks are Just So Stories, Paddle to the Sea, and James Herriot’s Treasury for Children. A Child’s Garden of Verses is being shipped and I’m looking forward to its arrival. Also, after investing in a Kindle, we downloaded the Burgess Animal Book and the Raggedy Ann/Andy stories which we are reading now “just for fun”…after that there’s countless other story series downloaded to look forward to reading from our Kindle.
This isn’t a post to ask for advice or comments, but just to say that I am thankful to have started on the CM living books path.
I feel the same way. We’ve been building our library from the Early Years list, and I’m so thankful to have found SCM this early on (my DD is 2 1/2). I love that she will sit and listen to and LOVE stories that have far more text than so many other books geared toward her age group.
