At what point during Module 1 do we read Boy of the Pyramids? (What term?)

I have been doing Module 1 using the online sample, and soon will have to order the Module 1 guide. I still need Boy of the Pyramids, so I am trying to decide whether to order both the guide and the Boy of the Pyramids book as downloads, or whether the book is so good that I should pay the extra $$ and shipping to get it in hard copy.

Thanks for any opinions that you can share!

Can’t answer your timing question as we aren’t using Module 1 but…we are in the middle of reading that book and we are loving it! I don’t think it would be any less enjoyable if it were a download vs print copy. There are a few black and white photos in the book which I am guessing would also be in the download. It is just a good, rich story. My opinion…save the $ and get the download. Unless you would like to resell at a later date. Also it is a “curl up on the couch” book and so if you can put it on an ipad or reader that would be OK. But if you have to sit at the computer with your kids to read it then I would get the book.

If I remember right, you start it in term two.  It is a wonderful book, and my kids have re-read it since we read it together. =)

You are correct, Sheraz. Just checked my copy. Starts in Term 2.

Really??  My dd read this book on her own and I assumed that would be just fine.  However, she said there was a lot of talk about slaves and “other” gods.  She devoured the book but was upset for weeks afterwards.

It is a wonderful book.    There is a LOT of talk about slaves, because one of the main characters is a slave of the boy.    I don’t remember a LOT of talk about Egyptian gods (probably pharoah is mentioned to be a god) – but there may have been more.

It is a wonderful book though that shows very well how life was to an egyptian boy (a fairly weathy one, mind you) – all wrapped in with a mystery.

We got the ebook version, and it worked great.  I read it aloud to my 3rd grader & my Kindergartner listened in too.  We really liked the book.

We loved this book, it enriched our understanding of ancient Egypt. The imagery stays with me- providing incite into this period in history.
