Bowditch substitution

    I am getting ready for the next school year.  My 7th grader will be in the Early Modern and Epistles book.  She read Carry On, Mr. Bowditch during her 3rd grade year.  What book could be substituted for Bowditch?

    Hi Sandra,

    One option would be to have your student read both Early Thunder by Jean Fritz and Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes  (it is listed as optional).  The Witch of Blackbird Pond  by Elizabeth Speare would be another great substitute.

    We will be reading Early Thunder as scheduled in the lesson plan (since we have already read Johnny Tremain). We’ve already read The Witch of Blackbird Pond. So, I’ll still need something to put in place of Bowditch.  Thanks for the suggestions.
