We got off to a good start with our homeschool today, but I found out I purchased the wrong “Famous Men of the Middle Ages” text. It says it’s edited by Rob and Cyndy Shearer, but it does not line up with the chapters and titles that are outlined in the SCM Middle Ages, Reformation and Renaissance text.
Can anyone help me find the correct corresponding text? Thank you.
I think I may have done the same thing. I have just been not paying attention to the pahe numbers in the Mod. 4 guide and just going by the guys’names. So far (we did Charlemagne today) it has worked out fine.
It is so confusing to have all those “Famous Men” books with the same titles but at least two different publishers (Memoria Press & Greenleaf?) And I’m not sure if Shearer edited them all? And then for a couple of time periods, too.
Yes, Karen I have the same thoughts. I was just looking online again to see if I could figure out which one matches. It does look like Shearer edited them all. And it does not let me look at the index online to clarify.
Mine don’t line up chapter-wise. The titles do line up…I believe one chapter is spelled differently, but is the same person.
I ordered the Shearer edition (Greenleaf) with the Greenleaf Guide to Famous Men of the Middle Ages, and even those two books don’t line up exactly! I’m guessing they rearranged the Famous Men chapters in the new edition. I went through my Middle Ages guide and penciled in the correct chapter numbers.
Ann, I think you have the correct book, you just need to adjust the chapter numbers in your SCM lesson guide.
