I am loving the Charlotte mason approach.

I am looking to buy some of the books for the moms from here

If you had limited money. What 3 books would you buy?

    Laying Down the Rails

Early Years (if you have young children – early elementary and under) And/Or the audio messages Discipleship Is and Reaching Your Child’s Heart

Hearing and Reading, Telling and Writing (the language arts one)

All of the free books are excellent as well, but I’m guessing you want to know what to buy.

(Alot of people also love the Planning your CM Education Guide which is also good, but didn’t make my top 3 list because I was born planning. =) But if planning isn’t your thing, I’d bump that up too.)

OK, I just like everything that SCM publishes. =)

If you’re fairly new to CM I’d get the All-Day Charlotte Mason seminar.  She takes you through each subject and explains how to do it.  Even after having used the CM method for 6 years, I watched it last year and learned SO many new things.  Truly excellent.

Laying Down the Rails would also be on my top 3 as well as the Planning guide.

I agree with the All-Day Seminar (although I know it isn’t a book.)

Planning guide was great  (although there is a blog series that has a lot of the information – if money is really tight, or you feel you have planning pretty good)

I agree thought – they are ALL good!

I have alot of the SCM books, DVD’s, etc.  I have yet to get anything that I don’t like from here.  The books and Things Seminar is great.  Looking Past the Fear CD is great too!  Again, these are not books, but are great for moms in the planning phase.

We have been using it for this year and love it!

The planning was the easiest part. Keeping it down to manageable amount of subjects was harder. Implementing said schedule even harder

I think Laying Down the Rails is fantastic. It talks about habit formation, and that is huge in homeschooling, both for the kids, and for us!
