My daughter just finished reading the “All-of-a-Kind Family” series.  I am on the hunt for other books on a similar reading level for her to read silently and narrate.  Right now I am reading the “Little House” series aloud with the family, otherwise, I would have her read these.  I am open to individual books or a series.

The Narnia series comes to mind.  Also Anne of Green Gables.

Anything and everything by Elizabeth Enright or Eleanor Estes.  We have these more as pleasure reading than for narration, but they are still very decent literature and you could certainly use for “school” as well.

Ditto to the lists above.  Caddie Woodlawn is well loved and there is a sequel as well (sequel might be for a slightly older age target…I think she is well into the teenage years in the second book).

I preferred to save Understood Betsy for a read aloud so that the whole family could enjoy together, but could be used either way.

Sheraz, I didn’t know the Borrowers was a series – thank you for that tip!

My 10 yo really enjoyed the Poppy series by Avi.

Thank you all for the great suggestions! It looks like we have plenty to select from. 🙂
