    Hi, ladies,

This is our first year homeschooling, and using a boxed curriculum now, but plan to do SCM style setup for next school year with ds who’s turning 6 next year. I’m greatly blessed by the tips on the blog on planning a curriculum, and wanted to do a character-study type of series next year with my first grader, with one term focusing on Jesus, one on David, and one on Paul. I’m having fun making my plans, listing down memory verses we want to cover, chapters to read off of a real Bible etc. 🙂

However, I’m having a bit of trouble finding storybooks/chapter books/living books on these three Bible characters. I’m only familiar with Gene Edwards’ Chronicles of Heaven (going through the entire Bible through 5 or 6 books), and I’m not even sure that’ll be good to read aloud to a 6-year-old. Is anyone here familiar with these books and whether it’ll be understandable to a first grader? Also, does anyone know a good living book to use alongside these character studies? Thank you very much!

    Blessings,

    Yen

Not familiar with those Gene Edwards books but a very good Bible for children is the one by Cahterine Vos.

Also, I believe that Door Posts has some type of Bible character study books – not sure if this would match exactly with what you are looking for but you could find their number on their website and ask.

Other websites to check out – Rainbow Resources and Christian Book Distributors.

    HTH!
