We have been collecting the living science book suggestions from your curriculum guide slowly over the past two years. I have them on a shelf where my girls can just go pick one out to read. Last night dh read “Johnny Appleseed.” He talked and talked about the book, then asked where I found it. I sound like a broken record since our literature and science books mostly come from your suggestions. I said, “Remember that DVD of the lady I watch at night, the website I’m always on looking up good books to read? It’s one of her suggestions.” He was impressed and wanted me to let you all know we really appreciate the curriculum guide.
That’s probably one of the most encouraging notes we’ve received, Cindie. Thanks so much!
And I’ll pass along the thanks to Karen, who recommended that book to me in the first place. (Isn’t that the way it goes? What do we have that we have not received? And you’ll probably recommend it to someone else . . . [insert contented sigh].)
This reminded me of a similar story I meant to share! I went to an all-day seminar with Sonya and just loved it. I picked up the “Boy of the Pyramids” book as she said it was a favorite. I kept asking my dd to read it, telling her it was a “classic”, and she wasn’t interested. I finally did what I should have done all along– started reading the first chapter to her.
Of course she loved it, and came running up to me later saying, “Mom, do you have any more of those ‘classic’ books’?”
I’d like to say a big “Thank you” to you all as well. I’m so thankful for this site and all of the hard work involved in the guides, book selections, etc. It has all made my hs journey so much better, richer and deeper than I could ever have imagined.
Add that to everyone else’s suggestions and you’ve got yourself the most excellent website!
We just finished Boy of the Pyramids yesterday, and we loved it! What a great book that we would never have found on our own!
I am also thankful for the suggested Arthur Scott Bailey books. We’ve been reading through them all school year, and each one is so delightful and beautifully written.
Sonya I’d love to chime in too, not ony are the prices of your books, seminars, guides, etc. so very reasonable but there are also so many things for free! I just ordered the CM seminar, the planning seminar and the Joshua history book. I am so excited to get a fresh perspective on our homeschool and hopefully do things much different from here on out. I’m too many miles from a yearly homeschool conference so you ARE the conference for me this year Can’t wait!
Thanks a bunch and God bless!
Michelle
